So, Disgaea 5 is horny/funny s-CRY-ed? Watch the full opener

‘Dis guy, ehhh?

This may be me projecting. I think about s-CRY-ed a lot. I don’t know why. And it certainly did not invent the “guy with cool arm” genre. Still, the first half of this trailer reminded me a lot of s-CRY-ed, and then the second half was full of characters with weird horns (sometimes one, sometimes two), luchador masks, and all sort of zany junk. 

While Disgaea is “very anime,” the series always does a good job at being more than that. It’s often endearing and earnest, thanks to good writing and localization. Plus it has a distinctive, lovely art style–all the same reasons I liked Disgaea 4.

And if you check out the gameplay trailer, Disgaea 5 looks pretty nuts. It’s coming to Europe and North America this year (3 Anno Luigi).
