More of everything
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. Read that name, but forget the number. The number’s not important because developer CI Games seems to aim to retool the series. Instead of being a sniping game, this installation wants to be one that makes use of all parts of the title.
Officially revealed today, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3‘s trailer clues us into the fact that sniping, stealth, and open combat will all supposedly play equally large roles this time. According to a preview on Gamespot, this title’s structured much less linearly, with something of an open-world structure. This allows for opportunities to snipe like you’re playing a Sniper Elite game, to sneak up on enemies like you’re playing an Assassin’s Creed game, or to open fire like you’re playing a Call of Duty game.
That is to say, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3‘s purpose is for you to feel like a sniper and a ghost and a warrior. Quite the literal phrasing. Whether or not it lives up to all three of those goals will be seen when it releases on January 27, 2017.
