SingStar Queen now available, as epic as you’d imagine

Having spent some time with SingStar Queen last week, both Topher and I can attest to the fact that it’s about as epic as you’d expect.

What the disc lacks in number of songs (there are only 25 on the PS3 version we played), it makes up for it in track quality. Even if you’re not the biggest of Queen fans, you’re likely to recognize most of the tracks, from anthems like “We Will Rock You” to “Killer Queen” (a track that only appears on the PS3 version of the game). You know you’ve been dying to sing “Don’t Stop Me Now” or howl through the majesty of “Who Wants to Live Forever.”

You should also be aware right now that no matter how well you sing, you are not Freddie Mercury — the man was one of the greatest singers of rock. Ever. Topher and I are not Freddie Mercury. Neither are you, despite what you think. You also probably don’t know all of the proper harmonies on “Bohemian Rhapsody”; if you can prove me wrong, call me!

Outside of the Queen wrapper, the game is essentially every other SingStar product, and supports all of the game features, including the social networking SingStar Clubs. The title also supports voice control, which allows you to navigate most of the game using the mic. It worked like a charm, even with me trying to fool it with various accents and sound-a-like words (example: “dog poo” can be substituted for “Continue,” and maturity).

SingStar Queen is available for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 this week.
