Team Cherry made the announcement today during a new video posted during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, much to the surprise and delight of countless gamers the world over who have been looking forward to the game since its initial announcement over six years ago. It’s officially releasing on Sept. 4, which is just two weeks from today.

Silksong follows Hornet, the former princess of Hallownest. In this game, the playable heroine has been kidnapped and then must take on a pilgrimage to ascend to the peak of the Kingdom of Pharloom, which is described as being “haunted by silk and song,” hence the title.

This has been a unique build-up of hype for Silksong, which originally was conceived as a DLC for Hollow Knight, which came out way back in 2014. Hornet’s adventures have been awaited ever since, especially when Team Cherry revealed that it would be a standalone game in 2019.

But for the most part, Silksong has been missing in action from industry showings for some time, leaving players to believe it was never going to come out. And so the memes of “where’s Silksong” during every single gaming showcase ever since had begun.

Well, Silksong is finally and officially almost here now, so pull out those credit cards and download it ASAP. This is what you’ve been waiting for. I don’t know if I’ll be hopping in myself, as I have the original game in my backlog for several years already now, but I do hope everyone else has fun.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
