Silent Hill 5 becomes Silent Hill: Homecoming, due for September

Konami has announced that Silent Hill 5 has been renamed Silent Hill: Homecoming and now has a European release timeframe of September.

The game, which is being developed by The Collective instead of Konami’s traditional Japanese team, is being met with tentative excitement from fans, myself among them. While it looks solid and the team seems to be made up of big Silent Hill fans, the homages to the Silent Hill movie and the rehashed “looking for missing person” storyline is worrying. In this game, it is Alex Shepherd looking for his missing brother.

No American date for Homecoming has been announced, but it can’t be too far off the European date.
