SH*T JUST GOT REAL: Nintendogs invade Animal Crossing

Recommended Videos

Long time readers of Destructoid know that I live in a sort of alternate reality, a reality where a “hardcore” game is isn’t determined by how “mature” or “bad-ass” it is, but instead by how much you have to love videogames to appreciate it. In my reality, that makes Animal Crossing one of the most hardcore series ever. These aren’t games that supply orgy-based mini-games or blood-and-fire soaked explosions to appeal to the sex-and-violence-loving masses. If you appreciate Animal Crossing, it must be because your love of videogames is so strong that you can enjoy a game about nothing; where everyday is uneventful and you can’t ever really win.

In my reality, Nintendogs is also a “hardcore” game. Like Animal Crossing, you have to play Nintendogs every day to really be all you can be. Nintendogs also involves poking dog crap with a stick. You’d be surprised how well stuff like that works to weed out the “casuals” who only play games about criminals and good looking people blowing up stuff.

Though full details are not yet available, Animal Crossing fans have new reason to hope that they too can poke dog crap with a stick. Starting October 7th, four different Nintendogs are coming to Animal Crossing: Let’s Go To The City via free DLC; one dog a week for four weeks. They may end up just being motionless statues of dogs, or they may actually “come to life” like other Animal Crossing items do (CLACKERCART!).
