Should you open Solgaleo or Lunala packs in Celestial Guardians Pokémon TCG Pocket?

Which part of Alola do you want to start in first?

Celestial Guardians is the third major expansion set for the mobile game Pokémon TCG Pocket and is based on the Alola region, home to Pokémon like Incineroar, Mimikyu, and Ultra Beasts. It’s definitely worth getting excited, since the cards available are some of the best the game has ever seen.

When you first load into the game, you’ll get the option to open either the Lunala pack or the Solgaleo pack. While regular trainers will know the difference between the packs, new players may not.

These packs have their own exclusive cards you can’t find in the other, while both share a majority of the cards, so deciding which one to open is a bigger deal than you think it is.

What is the best Celestial Guardians pack to open in Pocket?

While there are only a few major card differences between the Solgaleo and Lunala booster packs, for collectors or those wanting to make specific decks, deciding which pack to open is vital to collecting ’em all and finding the exact card you want.

As with previous expansions, there are pack exclusives you need to consider, and while all the pack exclusive cards have different rarities, and some are better than others, it’s all down to perspective on which one you want to open. Obviously, Lunala and Solgaleo ex are exclusive to their respective packs, but there are other Alolan Pokémon you can only find in one or the other, as well as those elusive trainer cards.

Here are some chase cards to look out for when opening packs to start, and some of the better cards each pack has to offer, alongside the rarity of each card.

In our opinion, both packs are worth white but it depends on personal opinion. If you’re going for metagame, maybe go for the Solgaleo pack to hopefully find Solgaleo ex for a Dialga ex deck variant, whereas Lunala ex might be better suited for any Psychic-type deck lovers out there.

There really is no major strong points, it’s all down to personal opinion and what you are looking for, so be sure to check out what each deck has before making a decision.
