Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura has Yumi as day-one DLC in Japan

That’s some pricey DLC

As some of you may know, the Senran Kagura franchise has a spinoff coming to the Nintendo Switch in the form of Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura. Did you know that the visual novel, starring Asuka, comes out on November 24 in Japan? Neither did I! However, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals that series regular Yumi will be joining the game as DLC on day one.

That being said, the price for Yumi is higher than you would expect.

The DLC for Yumi will run 926 yen, and for those of you that remember the presentation back in August, that means Yumi is almost expensive as the base game. Which also implies that should more girls from the series be added down the road, the total cost will grow very rapidly. Given that it’s a digital release, I’m surprised they didn’t do a version release, where you can pick either girl for the base game, and then the other as DLC. Unless Yumi is more popular than Asuka, in which case I can see why they did that.

Series producer Kenichiro Takaki has expressed interest in having the game localized, and it could be likely due to the rampant success of the console. It will be interesting to see if the game can maintain its current price point after factoring in the localization, or if the price for the base game and the Yumi DLC will increase.
