Shining Resonance is an upcoming RPG from the developer of Wild Arms

Wild Arms was awesome, so hopefully this is too

When Sega revealed a new game in the Shining series in February, then disappointed fans everywhere by showcasing a fighting game rather than an RPG, butts were significantly hurt. Now, there may be a light on the horizon yet.

According to Famitsu, Sega is developing a brand new Shining RPG known as Shining Resonance, created in conjunction with Media Vision, the dev known for the excellent Wild Arms series.

The Famitsu spread revealed the first confirmed character, Kirika Towa Alma, a “Song Maiden” who wields powerful magic and is apparently the game’s version of a healer. It also looks like music will play quite the large role in the game, such as harmonization with dragon and hearing “song magic” with in-game music. There’s also no transitions between battles and the overworld, which sounds absolutely awesome, MMO-style.

Unfortunately, there’s no release date as of yet, but there’s plenty of information here to whet my whistle. Stay tuned for additional info where we can get it. Are you excited for a new entry in the Shining series?
