ShareCraft 2012 brings in over $1M for Save the Children

DC Entertainment, Razer, and pro gamer Bachir “Athene” Boumaaza have helped to raise more than $1 million in donations for the ShareCraft 2012 – Save the Children Challenge fundraising drive. Charitable contributions will go toward combating hunger around the Horn of Africa.

The campaign ends on July 4, so there’s still time to get involved. Approximately half of the total money earned at the time of writing has come from DC Entertainment, who pledged to match one-hundred percent of donations up to $1 million. Good on them, and anyone else who has taken part.

It’s moments like these that make me proud to be associated with the overall gaming community. From what I know of Athene, not everyone cares for his antics, but anyone who can leverage their fan base for a cause like this is fine by me.
