Sega’s Shining spin-off Blade Arcus heading west

But only on PC

It’s been a long, long time since an entry in Sega’s Shining series has been released outside of Japan, but that’s about to change. Studio Saizensen (Umihara Kawase, Code of Princess) has revealed plans to bring its tag-team fighting game Blade Arcus from Shining: Battle Arena to Windows PC via Steam on July 28.

Blade Arcus features a roster of 16 playable characters drawn from Shining Hearts and Shining Blade, a pair of PlayStation Portable role-playing games released in 2010 and 2012, respectively.

The fighting game was initially released in arcades back in 2014 before coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 as Blade Arcus from Shining EX last November. Unfortunately, the console release was met with a tepid critical reception and poor sales, thanks, in part, to a compete lack of online play. Thankfully, Studio Saizensen has gone back under the hood with the Steam release to remedy that oversight, adding online multiplayer modes and leaderboards to the game’s solo and local offerings.
