Sega throws in the kitchen sink with five game announcements

Something feels off here.

During The Game Awards, Sega dropped a lucid hallucination of a trailer briefly highlighting five games allegedly in development. This includes a new Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. The also tease a “and more.”

The games go by in a flash. We see a Jet Set Radio that looks pretty on point with colorful graphics and familiar city environments. Then there’s a full 3D Streets of Rage. Afterward, we see a stylish 2D Shinobi. Next is a 3D Golden Axe without a sexy panther man or centaur in sight. Finally, we get to Crazy Taxi, which seemingly highlights multiplayer.

As excited as I am for some of these announcements, a few of them look kind of off. Specifically Streets of Rage and Crazy Taxi. What makes me worry is that Sega has previously cited a Fortnite-styleservice model, specifically referring to Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. Live service model, friends. Hopefully, they’ve changed their ways and we can eventually be legitimately excited to see these games return.

None of the games have a release date, but Sega says they’ll share more soon.
