Sega finally announces WayForward’s Aliens: Infestation

Great news for Aliens fans and Jim Sterling: Sega has finally officially announced Aliens: Infestation for the Nintendo DS.

The side-scrolling action game, as we already knew, is being developed by the 2D, side-scrolling masters at WayForward. The title has players recruiting and playing as up to 19 different marines and exploring movie set pieces like the Sulaco, the Derelict ship, and LV-426. Sega is calling Infestation a “side-scrolling exploration game” that has an upgrade and collectibles system. This has me crossing my fingers for a Metroid-style action romp… please

Comic artist Chris Bachalo is lending his designs to the game, with Gearbox Software on board collaborating with WayForward on development. It’s out this September, and genuinely looks kind of awesome. Even the box art is rad. Check out the screens in the gallery and get hyped.
