Funimation’s anime prequel to Mass Effect, Paragon Lost, received a trailer, in addition to some new details at Comic-Con, yesterday.
This feature length film from the studio that made Ghost in the Shell — back when anime films were still interesting and relevant — will arrive November 13. Mass Effect: Paragon Lost will cost $29.99 for the DVD and $34.98 for the DVD/Blu-ray bundle. I haven’t bought a film in forever but that sounds pretty pricey to me!
Here’s a recap on exactly what Paragon Lost is about:
Paragon Lost follows the early career of Alliance Marine, James Vega (Freddie Prinze Jr.). Vega leads an elite Special Forces squad into battle against a mysterious alien threat known as The Collectors. Stationed at a colony in a remote star system, Vega and his soldiers must protect the civilians from a ruthless invasion determined to capture the population for unknown purposes.
I don’t know about you, but when I read “Freddie Prinze Jr.” besides the word “alien”, I start to have flashbacks of that terrible Wing Commander film. I curl up in a ball and start crying, convulsively. Hopefully, this Mass Effect film will be a bit kinder to its fans than that piece of crap.
