Screen Gems now has Devil May Cry film rights

And just like that, we’re one step closer to another Capcom franchise getting the Hollywood treatment. Those Resident Evil movies continue to do well commercially, so why not? Screen Gems has purchased the movie rights to Devil May Cry, reports Variety.

The initial details aren’t much to go on, unfortunately: Kyle Ward is handling the script, and the plot will revolve around Dante avenging “his mother’s murder by killing off demons.”

If it’s wrong to not-so-secretly hope Jared Leto gets to play Dante (as in, DmC Dante) — just to witness the ensuing geek rage — I honestly don’t want to be right.
