Scarily enough, 8-bit Twilight is worth your time

I don’t know what’s crazier: some talented dudes coming together to make an 8-bit, YouTube-based videogame for the latest Twilight movie, or me literally playing this choose-your-own-adventure-style faux game to completion.

Admittedly, it’s kind of rad. Both because it riffs on the sheer absurdity of Eclipse and its predecessors (high five!), and because actual, honest-to-goodness game mechanics are presented. The animation was done by Doc Octoroc, while (presumably) everything else was handled by Benny and Rafi Fine.

We’ve seen plenty of similar projects before, but most of those fall apart when you realize the creator just applied 8- or 16-bit art to a known quantity and made the music sound all bleepy and bloopy. This, however, was clearly designed by people who enjoy games. And that’s why it gets my approval.
