Sandalphon may be the most powerful character in Granblue Fantasy: Relink when he’s added in May

Rejoice Sandalphon enjoyers.

This weekend, Cygames celebrated the tenth anniversary of its long-running Granblue Fantasy series. While Granblue Fantasy: Relink may have launched for PC and PS5 earlier this year, the first game in the franchise has been entertaining fans for much longer. As part of the celebration, Cygames gave players a few more details on what to expect for the console game’s future updates.

With Granblue Fantasy: Relink update version 1.3.0 coming in May 2024, Sandalphon has been confirmed as being added to the roster of playable characters. This twelve-winged Primarch carries the hopes of all those who live in the skies with him, and he’s one of the most powerful characters in every game in the series to date. That’s why he’s probably going to be the most powerful character in Granblue Fantasy: Relink come the May update.

Sandalphon will join players as part of a quest called Vision of the End. In it, you’ll have to take down Lucilius, a character who is well-known among the fan base. Essentially, after researching gods and evolution, he decided he’d carve his own path and established his own little following who wanted to end the world. You’ll definitely need Sandalphon’s help to stop him because Lucilius is effectively a god.

What makes Sandalphon such a powerful Granblue Fantasy character?

While Sandalphon will join you as a guest character in the Vision of the End quest, he’s also being added to the roster of playable characters. At the time of writing, he’s one of the highest-rated characters in Granblue Fantasy and is beloved by long-time players. In the original game, he’s one of the few characters you can run with past the point you start acquiring decent ones through its gacha system.

What makes Sandalphon such a powerhouse is his massive attack power and the buffs and debuffs he can apply. All of his skills in Granblue Fantasy work to help other characters have debuffs removed, heal the party, or speed up the rate at which everyone can use their strongest abilities. He can also make a mean cappuccino.

While we don’t have specific details on what Sandalphon’s skills will be in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, there’s a reason Cygames is introducing him as part of the battle against a character who wants to kill the gods and end the world. I can’t wait to see how he changes up the best party compositions and just what he’s capable of doing at max level with fully leveled-up weapons.

Cygames has only revealed details for updates to Granblue Fantasy: Relink up to May 2024. Beyond that, we have no idea what’s going to happen, but we know the game has adopted a massive fan base. I’d love to see the game get even more updates with more characters from the wider franchise and hard-hitting quests like Vision of the End. Once Sandalphon arrives, Cygames may confirm what its plans are.
