Welcome back, Master!

SNK has announced that its stoic fighter Samurai Shodown will welcome its newest roster addition next week. Iroha, previously revealed way back in January, will be available for purchase on all platforms from May 13.

A Japanese crane who shape-shifts into human form for battle, Iroha was specifically designed with over-the-top sexuality as her number one priority. This is borne out through her subservient nature, (calling the player “Master” at times), ridiculous anatomy, and infamous super move, where she strips off behind blinds to kill her opponent in artsy, silhouetted style.

Iroha is a very unique case in the world of SamSho, having been created entirely out of SNK’s desire for the franchise to have a “fanservice” character. Unsurprisingly, since her debut in Samurai Shodown VI, Iroha has become something of a minor icon in Japan, crossing over into other franchises such as Queen’s Blade and Lost Worlds. Iroha even received her very own mobile title, Maid by Iroha, in 2007.

Iroha will be maid made available for purchase on May 13 for around $6, or is included as part of Samurai Shodown‘s second character pass. Samurai Shodown is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. A long-awaited PC port will arrive on Epic Games Store in the near future.
