With the recent news that Xbox Live Arcade will be housing Torchlight on March 9, the question on my mind was, “Hey, what about Torchlight II?” Runic Games isn’t a terribly large studio, and it’s not like the sequel has been getting that major marketing push yet.
Digital Spy got an answer from CEO Max Schaefer: “I’d say that the Xbox project, having to do the extra work with the interface, has pushed us back a little bit, so we’re probably talking July right now.”
“We’ve actually got some optimizations and technical improvements that went into making the Xbox version that we’ve been able to go back and implement into Torchlight II for PC. We’ve got load times down, we’ve got some animation stuff that’s a little bit better, and it’s feeling really good right now.”
Well, there goes your chance to yell about how the port ruined the hopes and dreams of schoolchildren everywhere. (Also, yes, that really is the only decent image for Torchlight II, as far as I’m aware.)
