Rumortoid: Traditional Elite Xbox 360 consoles to be canned

According to a Fudzilla rumor report, Microsoft will slow Elite Xbox 360 manufacturing to a crawl and only offer the unit to select retailers in bundles similar to the sexy red Resident Evil 5 bundle.

Mysterious Microsoft sources are indicating that Microsoft will stop taking orders for traditional Elites in the second quarter, purposefully exhausting inventory of the high-end console. Once toast, Microsoft will transition to the Resident Evil 5-style format and only offer it to select retailers. Allegedly, a new, bigger hard drive (over 120 GB, ftw!) will show up on the market shortly after this happens.

The purpose of the switch seems to be money. According to other shadowy sources, Microsoft stands a chance to make more money off limited edition Elites than the regular busted up joints.
