Rumortoid: Onyx DS Lite model discontinued?

I can’t wrap my head around the idea that the most basic (not to mention attractive) colors of any console would be discontinued while said console is still in the height of popularity, but perhaps I’m just not bright enough to grasp Nintendo’s master plan. According to the GameStop daily newsletter that you see above, the Onyx DS lite has officially been discontinued. Wut?

Apparently the white DS Lite has already been discontinued, and a search around the internet definites confirms that, although the Onyx can still be spotted on Amazon for $129.99. While there’s no official confirmation on this, it looks like it could very possibly be a reality. I wonder if the Onyxcould be being discontinued to make way for the Black DSi?
