Rumortoid: Legacy of Ys: Books 1 & 2 coming to DS [Update]

You may be old school enough to have played the original Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy titles, but are you down with the vintage Falcom? If you are one of the proud geeks, you’ll know about Ys, the action-RPG series that missed the mainstream in the U.S.

If you’re a fan, or you want to learn about the series’ roots, you’ll be glad to hear that Gamestop has leaked that Atlus is bringing remakes of these titles to the DS. According to Siliconera, the originals come together in a two-game bundle called Legacy of Ys: Books 1 & 2, now sporting 3D graphics, multiplayer action, and a new translation. Those that know Falcom also know that their games are packed with fantastic music, and this new version is supposed to have a remixed score. Nice.

Gamestop has this listed as a Feburary 10, 2009 release. No confirmation from Atlus yet. We nabbed their screenshots to share with you in the gallery below. Above you’ll find a trailer for the Japanese DS releases of Ys I and II, which were actually sold separately.

[Update: An email to the Atlus Faithful confirms the release. They also include a video trailer for the US release.]
