Sega has promised that Project Needlemouse will ditch the codename and officially be revealed next week, but let it not be said that fanboys are a patient bunch. Not content to wait for Sega’s unveiling, some Internet detectives among the Sonic fan community have uncovered a newly registered URL that could officially portent the announcement of Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
Sonicthehedgehog4.com has been reserved by a man called Brandon Klein. The Sonic fans tried to dig up information on the guy and came up short, save for one email address linked to Klein belonging to another Brandon — Brandon Laurino. This particular Brandon just so happens to work at Sega as a community and online director. You cannot hide from people with no lives!
Whether this site means anything or not, I would say that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a no-brainer for Project Needlemouse‘s official name. Sega’s marketing up until now and the clear focus on a Mega Man 9 style reboot makes Sonic 4 the most obvious choice. We’ll have to wait and see, but we’re not going to act surprised when the news drops.
