There have been rumors swirling around the existence of a Namco vs. Capcom game for a while now. Now they are bolstered by a recent appearance by Katsuhiro Harada from Namco Bandai and Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono at the Evo fighting game tournament a couple weeks ago. In what would be a highly interesting twist, Game Informer has sources which tell them that the rumored fighter will be not one but two distinct titles.
According to Game Informer, the current scuttlebutt is that a pair of games will be developed by the two different companies and made to reflect their different approaches. That would suggest that Capcom is working on a 2.5D game with Heihachi in it while Namco Bandai is putting together a 3D fighter full of Hadoken.
Pretty wild stuff should it wind up being true. If so, we may find out sooner rather than later, as a big fighting game announcement trailer is to be shown at Comic-Con this Saturday. We’ll keep you posted on any developments.
