Rumor: iPhone 5 announcement due October 4

Have you guys heard? They might announce a new iPhone on October 4th. How totally unexpected? All Things Digital has claimed that Apple will be unveiling the next iteration of the iPhone at their October 4th media event. 

Thanks to Verizon’s entry to the iPhone family Apple missed their annual Summer reveal, but we all know there’s going to be a new iPhone this year. Reports claim that the device will ship within weeks of the event, though nothing is confirmed. After years of Apple’s unexpected annual releases, I’m sure we can all assume this to be true. The real question is this: Does new CEO Tim Cook have the chops to fill Steve Jobs’ turtleneck?
