Roogoo DS hearts Roogoo Wii, can connect to unlock extras

It’s hard for me to overstate how much I really enjoyed SouthPeak’s Roogoo on Xbox LIVE Arcade (the game was also available on the PC). Adorable and addictive, the frantic shape-dropping action of Roogoo made me happy.

Now, it’s coming to the Wii and Nintendo DS, and we have the new screens the prove it. While it seems like the general mechanics are the same — there is a shape, put it the hole that looks like that shape — SouthPeak is adding new features to try to make the games worth your while. Bosses, like “The Giant Squid,” have been added to the Nintendo DS version, for instance. You’ll also be able to link up the DS and Wii to unlock additional levels in both versions of the game. 

Roogoo is slated to hit sometime this year, and because I’m a big fan of the original (and a sucker), I’ll probably be picking up both of them. You?
