Rocketbirds: overthrow the penguins on PSN

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken, which has been around for a while under the name Rocketbirds: Revolution, is getting a port over to the PSN and will be out either late 2011 or early 2012. The game is currently available for $9.99 on the PC. It is possible to demo the first level, just to see what you think of it, and anyone headed to SDCC will be able to demo the upgraded version at the PlayStation booth. The PS3 version will have much nicer graphics, run at a higher resolution and will have better controls. It will also come in stereoscopic 3D, in case you have a fancy 3D TV.

Rocketbirds features a lone chicken daring to stand up to the oppressive rule of the penguin overlords. There may also be rockets. The premise is silly, yes, and from what I’ve seen of the dialogue it is not at all serious, but the gameplay feels quite a bit like Flashback or Oddworld, two platformers that I loved. As far as I’m concerned there are not enough sidescrolling platformers as it is, so I am all for Rocketbirds. Besides, supporting indie developers makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
