Return of the Obra Dinn on Switch isn’t off the table, according to creator

‘So the writing is on the wall on that I guess’

Return of the Obra Dinn has been tearing up the indie circuit and wormed its way straight into the hearts of adventure and mystery fans everywhere.

Its blend of grounded 19th century charm and magic helped inform the gameplay immensely, as the player character attempts to solve a series of murders. Since it’s so successful, naturally, a bunch of people want to know when it’s coming to Switch. The good news is that it’s not completely off the table, it just might take a while.

Lucas Pope, Obra Dinn‘s creator (and the brain behind Papers, Please), spoke to Metro and parsed the response so far into a clear, easy to digest statement: “A lot of people are asking for it. Actually the first response when I released it for desktops was, ‘when is it coming to Switch?’ So the writing is on the wall on that I guess. I haven’t figured anything out yet solid for it yet though.”

Despite that hopeful notion, Pope is pensive about bringing the game to streaming platforms and VR (much to the chagrin of folks who were excited for the possibility of the latter). Return of the Obra Dinn launched last October exclusively on PC, and it looks like it’s going to remain on traditional platforms on the future. The more, the merrier!
