Respawn co-founder confirms Titanfall Season Pass

Yesterday it almost seemed like we were in the clear when Titanfall was said to possibly get a Season Pass, but almost immediately after deconfirming it, Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella reconfirmed the Pass.

Zampella explains, “We’re going to do paid DLC, we’re also going to do free updates. There are things that we want in the game that we didn’t get to ship in the final game. So we’ll add private matches and things like that for free. There will be some paid DLC. We’re going to do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, it’s a deal. We’re not going to do microtransactions. So a season pass is just buy it up front, and you get a better price.

Okay, so pretty standard (and disappointing) stuff for FPS games, but what about that barely talked about Xbox 360 version? Well, he had some less exciting news on that front, admitting, “[regarding DLC and patches] We’ll have to sit down with EA and talk about that. My assumption is yes, but I don’t know if I’m the best person to speak for that.”

Consider this a warning in terms of the Xbox 360 version of the game, which hasn’t even been shown publicly. Although the developer handling that version (Bluepoint Games) has a good track record, it’s clear that the PC and Xbox One are the flagship platforms. With another developer in the mix, DLC or updates may come at a later date, or based on the wording above, maybe not at all.
