Resonance of Fate gets US/EU simultaneous 2010 release

Resonance of Fate, the RPG collaboration between tri-Ace and Sega, has been confirmed for a 2010 Western release and is due to arrive in North America and Europe at the same time. According to Sega, this move has been inspired by a perceived drop of interested in JRPGs by UK consumers.

“America and Europe is the same release,” confirms SEGA Europe localisation producer Jun Yoshino. “Usually the European version comes a year after, let’s say the Japanese release. During the year, a lot of people are going to like, well this is old news now. We’re going to be losing a lot of interest if there is such a long time as a year. We’ve scheduled it in so we can get it out as quick as possible.”

Given tri-Ace’s recent history, I’m not sure just how good this news is, but I suppose it’s always nice to see a simultaneous US and Europe release. We’ll certainly find out if the game’s worth the tough localization effort early next year.
