Hello to The Village

Capcom has announced that the newest entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Village, will be showcased at this year’s Tokyo Game Show (TGS), which takes place later this month.

Capcom revealed the news in a tweet earlier this morning, where the famous developer/publisher apologised to fans for a lack of info regarding the gothic horror sequel. Resident Evil Village will feature in a TGS presentation to be held on Sunday, September 27. The presentation will offer up new details – and hopefully new footage – pertaining to the eighth mainline entry in the survival horror franchise.

The subject of speculation for many months, Resident Evil Village was officially revealed during PlayStation’s Future of Gaming presentation back in June, with a trailer that confirmed the return of Resident Evil VII protagonist Ethan Winters, as well as a troubled and dour iteration of seemingly fallen S.T.A.R.S. hero Chris Redfield.

The cinematic preview also gave fans a first look at the titular “village,” a quaint and unearthly locale populated by strange and sinister townsfolk, warped society hostesses, and a frightening wolf-man. Capcom rumor-merchant DuskGolem had previously referenced Resident Evil Village‘s “dark and gruesome” tone, stating that the sequel’s story beats are “divisive” and “fucked up.”

Resident Evil Village is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Tokyo Games Show 2020 will take place between September 23-27.
