Resident Evil 0 director reflects back on 20 years of zombies

Speaking of things that won’t die…

It is the 20th anniversary of Resident Evil and the only new game in the series planned for 2016 release is the competitive multiplayer shooter Umbrella Corps. Yikes. Well, a Resident Evil 7 announcement at, say, E3 is inevitable…right? What the hell else is Capcom busy with now that Street Fighter V is in the wild? Deep Down?

Well, here’s Resident Evil 0 director Koji Oda reflecting on 20 years of Raccoon City. This is the second in a 20th anniversary video interview series Capcom is putting on. It kicked off with Hiroyuki Kobayashi. Oda was most recently involved in the HD remake of RE0 (there’s talk about Wesker mode and dashed plans to let you play as some of the enemies), but like Kobayashi has been there since the first game. Also he directed that new Strider, which was pretty good.

Anyways, Capcom, for real: no pressure. We don’t actually need Resident Evil 7. We can all just keep playing Resident Evil 4 forever. It’s that good.
