Developer Renegade Kid has confirmed that its previously announced Dracula title has been shelved. The deal was signed with Gamecock — which no longer formally exists — last year.

The game, called Son of the Dragon was rumored to be a Wii game that would follow the adventures of Dracula’s son. The intellectual property is still owned by Renegade Kid, although there are no current plans to revive the project. The developer is currently working on an unannounced game for an unannounced system, which will be released during an unannounced time-frame sometime in the future.

Let’s hope the opportunity for Renegade Kid to dig up this game’s corpse presents itself. In all honesty, I have to say I’m disappointed by this turn of events. Castlevania has the Dracula-market covered, and I think it’s about time there’s some competition.
