Reggie ‘Meat Man’ Fils-Aime says the core gamer is ‘insatiable’

Don’t question the meatman. The substantial Reggie Fils-Aime had plenty of commentary to offer in a recent interview with Venture Beat, most of it prattle on the new Nintendo DSi. When asked if Nintendo’s recent announcements would calm the complaints garnered due to their E3 press conference, Fils-Aime replied:

The gaming enthusiast that buys a tremendous amount of games is truly insatiable. As an example, in March, we launched “Super Smash Bros. Brawl.” In April, we launched “Mario Kart.” In later April, we launched “Wii Fit.” Then, in July, at E3, they say, “where are the games?” They say they want the next Mario game. “Super Mario Galaxy” isn’t even a year old yet. We believe today that we have shown a plethora of games and genres that can satisfy the most casual to the most core. Even that doesn’t seem like it’s enough.

I sense a little hostility there, Reg. But didn’t you just say in July that Nintendo was sorry for disappointing the core gamer? This is starting to sound like a break-up argument: are you sorry or are you mad at me?

Also of note for humor’s sake, Fils-Aime’s reply to being told Nintendo is in a good spot:

That makes us proud. But it also makes us the most paranoid people in the world.

Ha! I don’t see how anyone can be paranoid about anything while encased in so much solid muscle, but I guess even the most confident man feels fear. At this point, I think Nintendo could somehow market a console that doubles as a toaster as still manage to come out successful. You can check out the rest of the lengthy interview here.
