Red PSPs announced for Japan and Europe

Apparently, the world thinks that North Americans only get down with non-colors like black and white, because here we go again — Japan and Europe will be getting red PlayStation Portable units this year.

Europe will be receiving a special edition Spider-Man PSP bundle, which has a red face with black buttons and a black back. Because the unit will be purchased on Spider-Man fandom alone (and not the fact that it just looks cool), buyers will be forced into getting Spider-Man 3: The Game and the Spider-Man 3 movie on UMD. A Simpsons bundle with a yellow PSP, game, and movie will also be available, for those who like their portable electronics to remind them or urine.

The Japanese will be receiving a red PSP as well, but it will be slightly different. This “deep red” PSP model will be available on December 13, and will be completely red, buttons and all. Disappointingly, the system will not come bundled with Dario Argento’s Profondo Rosso on UMD. It will however be available with a pouch, hand strap, and 32MB memory stick. Alternately, you can purchase it with one of those fancy Sig TV tuners, a stand, and a 1GB memory card.

There are currently no plans for these PSPs to be launched in other parts of the world, so be prepared to cough up those import dollars you’ve been socking away.
