Project Lumina announced that the final launch character for upcoming fighter Melty Blood: Type Lumina will be Red Arcueid. The developer dropped new videos revealing the sinister gal and showcasing her in battle with Kouma Kishima.

As the Melty Blood faithful will be aware, Red Arcueid is the shadowy, antagonistic variant of hero Arcueid Brunestud, and has been featured in numerous entries in the cult fighting game franchise. Type Lumina — a direct adaptation of the recent visual novel Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon — sees the Melty Blood franchise receive its first full overhaul in a decade, having been rebuilt in a brand new engine to fully revitalize each and every aspect of the in-game action.

Of course, this fresh start comes at something of a cost — the price being that Type Lumina features a much smaller roster than Melty Blood fans might be used to. But with a full story mode, new HD visuals, beginner modes and mechanics, and what looks to be the electrifying fast-paced combat that is the series’ trademark, it’s definitely a better decision in the long term to refresh the franchise for gaming’s newest generation, while hopefully pulling in new players along the way.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina launches September 30 on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
