Jeeeesus. That right there, my friends, is a person getting very rich off of a purchase she made 20 years ago and forgot about. Seller vals2girlz just sold a completely factory sealed, mint condition, NTSC version of Stadium Events for $41,300. Yea, you read that right. That makes this game the most expensive NES cartridge ever purchased by $21,200, beating out JJ Hendricks’ sale of Nintendo Campus Challenge for $20,100.

The auction ended last night with 115 bids. Up until now it was believed that there were was only one other version of the game in a factory sealed box, but this woman found another in her basement. While the price tag might seem a bit ridiculous, JJ Hendricks, who is a game collecting officianado, points out that not only was the game incredibly rare, but the demand for it had skyrocketed recently as some previous auctions catapulted it into the public eye.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go build a time machine, travel back in time and punch my child self in the face for opening and playing all my games. I was such a jerk for having fun with my games and not worrying about future me’s financials.
