Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time gets pre-order incentives

Pre-orders for Insomniac’s upcoming Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time are going to have you making some tough choices. You see, there are a lot of pre-order bonuses; four of them, in fact. Thing is, they’re each exclusive to different retailers.

There’s a lot of this stuff — and it’s all pretty cool — so hit the jump for the details.

The “Discovery Package” (from GameStop) is a special level that re-creates the layout of the Insomniac offices, including content that didn’t make the final game. I’ve been to their offices before — expect lots of cubicles and a small, but good, food area. And people working hard on Resistance 3… right? Right?

Or the “Bolt Package” (from Amazon) that’ll start you off with the “Bolt Magnetizer,” “The Box Basher,” and 5,000 bolts to start.

Then there’s the “Power Package” (from Best Buy), which includes a weapon skin for Ratchet, gives you extra hit points to start, and a “Cryo Mine Glove” that freezes enemies. Finally, the “Space Package” (from GameCrazy) hooks you up with hotrod skin for you ship, 5,000 bolts, and an exclusive Ratchet & Clank Home Avatar Skin. Of those two, one is being offered at GameCrazy, the other Best Buy. For whatever reason, Sony and Insomniac are being all secretive about it, so check your local retailer.

Before you start flipping out that you might miss out on something by not pre-ordering (or making the wrong pre-order choice), there are a few things to take note here. For one, based on comments made by Insomniac’s James Stevenson on the PS Blog, it sounds they’re making sure no one will miss out. It’s likely that some (or most) of these items and goodies will be either unlockable or offered (for free) at some point down the line… you can just get a headstart of your choice, based on your pre-order choice.

Decisions, decisions. What will yours be?
