Rare isn’t immediately interested in Viva Pinata 3, new title in the works

The lead designer of Viva Piñata Trouble in Paradise, Justin Cook, recently disclosed that Rare is not immediately interested in another sequel to the family franchise. Cook said “As far as the team is concerned we are taking a break from VP for a while to make something new.”

While VP is certainly no Wii Fit, I think it’s interesting that Microsoft is willing to allow a casual franchise to sit on the backburner for a while. Will this new title be just as casual and friendly as VP? Despite the initial comment, Cook was quick to append that his immediate team plans aren’t set in stone. He added that “…things change quickly in the software industry, so next week it may be a completely different story.”

Just as long as the next Rare title is as vibrant as their upcoming offerings, I’ll be a happy man. Also, Perfect Dark done correctly, please?
