Side-by-side comparison with the NES game
Of the games I know for certain will be at E3, I might be most excited to play DuckTales Remastered. To make the wait even harder, IGN shared a pair of exclusive videos showcasing the Amazon and Transylvania levels as well as Jake Kaufman’s amazing arranged soundtrack.
Above you’ll catch the Amazon footage, which runs alongside footage of the NES game. There are a lot of little tweaks to the stage layout, but it’s the fully voiced dialog interludes that really set them apart. I wouldn’t worry too much about the overly long health bar, though — this demo is likely running on easy mode, and we already know there will be a mode even more difficult than the original. Pus, the revamped boss battle is looking aces.
Below you’ll find the Transylvania video, featuring a nostalgic conversation with Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby. Hearing Russi Taylor again as the children gets me all tingly inside, but Alan Young’s Scrooge sounds a bit tired. The dude is in his 90s, so it’s to be expected that he isn’t as energetic as he once was. Surprisingly, June Foray is even older, yet her Magica De Spell is as delicious as ever! I just hope these cutscenes don’t break the gameplay too much.
Oh! And apparently there’s going to be a completely new final level that takes place on Mount Vesuvius. Good, because having to visit Transylvania three times in the NES version was one of its only shortcomings. This is gonna be magical!
