Puzzle Quest 2 revealed for Xbox LIVE Arcade, DS

Following the tease of its reveal in the upcoming GamePro (as part of its “Top Upcoming Sequels of 2010” story), D3 Publisher has revealed that Puzzle Quest 2 is slated for a spring 2010 release. So far the only platforms announced are Xbox LIVE Arcade and Nintendo DS, but there’s little doubt it will make its way everywhere else in due time.

The game returns to the match-three mechanic that made the first game so popular, along with its fantasy backstory. Puzzle Quest 2 will let players choose from four classes — War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian, and Assassin. No surprises, the game features a story mode, instant action mode, multiplayer modes, and a “tournament mode.”

As a huge fan of the first game, it’s nice to see them returning to the “roots” — wasn’t a huge fan of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, despite its potential. Here’s hoping they bring back the awesome music… or at least a remix.
