The PSP is still on a winning streak in its home country, with another 85,421 units sold this past week. With a little help from Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, the PSP is leading Japanese hardware sales at the moment.
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (damn you and your silly long titles, Capcom) has already shifted 1.7 million copies in Japan, proving that the Japanese will always be suckers for the acquisition of creatures that do not exist. I only played the PS2 version of Monster Hunter, but considering it had a shedload of potential, I can see how the portable series is such a storm in the East.
I’m glad to see the PSP getting a little love. It may lack the simplicity and library of the Nintendo DS, but it’s certainly come into its own. I will definitely have to see what’s so great about the portable Monster Hunter series.
