The new PSP-3000 is more than a little popular, having shifted 140,000 units after less than a week on Japanese shelves.
The new PSP model, which was revealed at Leipzig, boasts an in-built microphone and a highly improved LCD screen. Our very own Dale North described the new screen as “kick ass,” and that man buys a lot of gadgets, so you know he can be trusted. Seriously, he owns four phones. For no reason.
The Japanese people are clearly just as impressed, with exact sales figures displaying 141, 270 sales within four days. In addition, both the PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 have benefitted, with knock-on sales giving them a combined sales figure of 155, 720 last week. Not bad.
Looks like the 3000 has given Sony something to smile about in the East. Is similar success being had in the US? We’ll need to wait on the figures, but I really hope there’s a boost. The better the PSP does, the more time developers will be willing to invest in it. As a PSP fan, I really want that to happen.
