Sneaky bastards, sneaking in a notification system through firmware updates! Wait, what does this do?

It’s not a big deal. The new system allows Sony to communicate with the whole PlayStation Network and everyone on it. PlayStation Life caught one going out from PSN id [PSN] that told everyone on the network (presumably) that a demo upgrade for Earthworm Jim HD had been fixed. Uh, thanks?

BAM! Spam on your game system!

To be fair, PSL says that the message also contained an attachment that took them right to the PS Store to download the update. That’s kind of cool, I guess.

So, to clarify, out of the last update we had troubles with various issues, some kind of incremental patching, and new spam functionality? Neato!
