PSN Day 1 Digital initiative includes Dishonored and more

Plus Assassin’s Creed III and NFS: Most Wanted

PSN Day 1 Digital is exactly what it sounds like, and it’s something that should have happened a while ago, but I’m nonetheless glad to see it fully realized. Starting October 2 with Resident Evil 6 and NBA 2K13, select PlayStation 3 titles will be available for purchase digitally on the same day retail copies go on sale.

Sony has revealed the first batch of games, some of which can be pre-ordered, and a little something extra for PlayStation Plus subscribers:

  • Resident Evil 6 (Available for download on October 2 – $59.99)
  • NBA 2K13 (Available for download on October 2 – $59.99/$53.99 for Plus members, with pre-order)
  • Dishonored (Available for download on October 9 – $59.99/$53.99 for Plus members, with pre-order)
  • DOOM 3: BFG Edition (Available for download on October 16 – $39.99/$35.99 for Plus members, with pre-order)
  • 007: Legends (Available for download on October 16 – $59.99)
  • Medal Of Honor: Warfighter (Available for download on October 23 – $59.99)
  • Need For Speed: Most Wanted (Available for download on October 30 – $59.99/$53.99 for Plus members, with pre-order)
  • Assassin’s Creed III (Available for download on October 30 – $59.99)

Lastly, 007: Legends will be 10 percent off if you purchase it during its first week as a Plus member. The pricing could be better — these are digital versions, after all — but at least there is some discounting going on. Let’s hope this is successful enough to keep going with further groups of games.
