PSA: The Overwatch League kicks off today at 4PM PST

San Francisco Shock vs. Los Angeles Valiant

Today is a pretty monumental day for eSports, as Blizzard’s Overwatch League kicks off at 4PM PST. There will be three matchups tonight in all, following at 6PM PST and 8PM PST — you can catch these broadcasts in English by way of the main stream from the Blizzard Arena in LA, or by way of Chinese, French, or Korean broadcasts.

The first matchup is San Francisco Shock vs. Los Angeles Valiant. Of note, the former team hosts iddqd, who is known for a mean McCree, and the latter has numlocked, famous for playing tank heroes with a history in other competitive games like League and Team Fortress 2. Both teams are technically representing America, but are comprised of players from the US, Canada, France, the UK, Sweden, Mexico, Spain, and Korea.

A lot hinges on the Overwatch League’s success, and their ability to keep viewers outside of the initial kickoff blast.
