If you play online on the PlayStation Network while rattling off slurs and insulting others’ moms, you might soon be in for a rude awakening. Or you might just be able to change your PS Username. A recent survey sent out to PlayStation 4 owners has all the makings of the implementation of a reputation system and a slew of new features — that is, if people actually want them. And we do, don’t we?

The survey is meant to gauge interest in advanced matchmaking that would more closely pair you with players near your skill level, chat across PlayStation platforms like PS3 and PS Vita, notifications, and more, like the option to appear offline and expanding party chat beyond eight people. Many of these are features Xbox Live users are likely familiar with already, so hopefully some if not all of them will be explored, even if on a voluntary basis.

While there’s nothing definite yet, the fact that there’s a survey inquiring about these kinds of things is a start, and a great first step toward improving the overall PlayStation experience.
