According to the mysteriously-named Playstation Blog, Michael Shorrock, the Director of Third Party Relations at SCEA, has announced that Geoff Keighly has announced that Rockstar Games has announced an exclusive, brand new franchise for the PS3. Rockstar has mentioned before that the 360 gave the company some considerable challenges due to the lack of disc storage capacity and how poor people aren’t required to get a hard drive, so it comes as no shock that they would want to “make a game that you can truly only do on the Playstion 3…”
The game is NOT LA Noire, but a completely original, previously-unannounced franchise. This is going to go a long way in silencing the rumors of the GTA-makers preference towards Microsoft’s console due to the exclusive episodic content and Rockstar spokesman Hosi Simon’s recent comments regarding which version of GTAIV consumers should pick up.
No matter what happens, whether this game is the next Midnight Club or an arbitrary disappointment like Bully, Red Dead Revolver, State of Emergency, Manhunt, or the Warriors, fanboys are going to mark this one down as a major victory. It is, considering Xbox 360 gets a few sporadic episodes and Sony gets, you know, a whole game, but the one thing the world doesn’t need is more Chad Wardens. Or Mexicans.
