PS3 gets 3D updates on June 10th in Japan

If you’ve been dying to play 3D-enabled PS3 games, know that an update to add this functionality is probably coming soon. For Japan, we know that the update will come on June 10th, and seeing as how they usually get feature updates at about the same time we do, I think it’s safe to assume we’ll see 3D in June. I mean, E3 is in two weeks.

The first three games to get the updates will be Super Stardust HD, WipEoutHD and Pain. Pain requires a 300 yen charge to add 3D functionality, but the other two are free. Well, free after the new $1500+ television you’ll have to purchase to see it.

In a Sony Bravia promotion, Sony will be shipping these three games along with a demo of the 3D-ized Motorstorm 2 in Japan. So that’s four games. None are “must haves,” but this is a decent start for 3D.
