Oh dear oh dear, Firmware 3.0 has not won any fans since it launched for the PlayStation 3 this week. After installing the new system update, some users have complained of new bugs in Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and WipEout HD. Now, to make matters worse, there are also reports of it causing controllers to malfunction.

According to the complaints, this new issue affects the “Ceramic White” DualShock 3 controller. Those suffering from problems claim that the controller’s LED ports are lit as if the controller is active, but the peripheral itself won’t actually work.

As with the Uncharted glitch, this doesn’t seem to be a widespread issue and is just affecting an unlucky few. Even so, I’m kind of glad I’ve not yet switched my PS3 on to download the new update. Someone let me know when it’s safe to do that, and I’ll get on it right away.
